Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the reinforcement of Ukraine’s air defenses with Patriot systems. He said this step was a result of agreements already fulfilled with Germany.
He wrote about this on his Telegram .
“We have strengthened the ‘Petriot’ component of our Ukrainian air defense. I thank Germany and Chancellor Friedrich Merz personally for this joint step to protect lives from Russian terrorism. We have been preparing this air defense reinforcement for some time, and now the agreements reached have been fulfilled,” Zelen stated.
The head of state emphasized that Russian air strikes are the Kremlin’s main gamble in the war, and that strengthening Ukrainian air defenses is therefore critical to bringing victory closer.
“Russian air strikes are Putin’s main bet in this war. He wants to compensate for his inability to achieve his insane goals on the ground through terror. Therefore, every strengthening of our air defense literally brings us closer to the end of the war that we all await,” the president emphasized.
Zelensky also noted that Ukraine, together with its partners, continues to build a reliable air defense system that will be able to ensure the security of not only our country but also our allies in the future.
“Our security is indivisible, our air defense must protect us all,” he emphasized.
The President added that negotiations on further strengthening the air defense system are ongoing both between governments and directly with system manufacturers.
“There will be further results. Glory to Ukraine!” Zelensky concluded.
It was previously reported that Ukraine will receive two Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from Germany in the coming days.
Zelenskyy previously announced the preparation of an agreement with the United States and the United States for the purchase of 25 Patriot systems.
