The European Union has disbursed the first tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, amounting to €3.2 billion. The funds are part of a large-scale €90 billion loan package that the EU plans to provide to Ukraine over the next two years.

This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during the Recovery Conference in Gdansk.

According to her, the allocation of the first funds from the 6 billion euro program intended for the development of drone production in Ukraine will also begin in the coming days.

“Today we are transferring the first tranche of this loan – 3.2 billion euros of macro-financial assistance. And in the coming days we will start paying out the first funds from the 6 billion euros intended for the production of drones. This is solidarity in action,” von der Leyen said.

As previously reported by European media, the entire first tranche of 3.2 billion euros will be directed to budget support for Ukraine. Initially, the possibility of immediately allocating 6 billion euros for the production of drones was considered, but the implementation of this decision was postponed due to the need to create mechanisms for controlling the use of funds.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian delegation to the International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, taking place on June 25-26 in Gdansk, is headed by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
