Ukraine has returned four more children and teenagers from temporarily occupied territories as part of the presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA. Their families were helped to safely leave for Ukrainian-controlled territory after a long stay under Russian occupation.
This was reported by the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
12-year-old Marina returned to Ukraine with her mother. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, they had lived under occupation, continued their studies at a Ukrainian school, and made no secret of their pro-Ukrainian stance. Because of this, the occupation authorities searched their house and interrogated their parents. Later, Russian soldiers detained the girl’s father, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
We also managed to evacuate 15-year-old Veronika, who after the death of her mother remained under the care of her grandparents. The family decided to leave the occupied territory so that the girl could continue her studies and live in safety. Preparations for the departure lasted several months due to difficulties with the execution of the necessary documents.
17-year-old Dmytro also returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine. Because of the war, he had not seen his mother for more than four years, who was outside the occupied territory. After several months of preparation, the boy was able to reunite with her.
In addition, 8-year-old Nadia and her mother were returned to Ukraine. Due to constant stress and life under occupation, the girl had health problems. Now the family has been reunited with her father and older brother, who were waiting for them in the territory controlled by Ukraine.
Bring Kids Back UA noted that all families will receive the necessary assistance for adaptation and reintegration, as well as legal and social support.
At the same time, the initiative emphasized that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children and youth still remain under the control of Russia, which systematically prevents their departure and limits their freedom of choice.
