Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine has synchronized sanctions against Russia with Japan. The head of state signed a corresponding decree, which expanded restrictions on companies and executives that finance the Russian military machine.
He wrote about this in Telegram .
“Today we synchronized sanctions with Japan – I signed a corresponding decree,” the head of state said.
According to Zelensky, the sanctions list includes leaders and companies that profit from Russia’s war, supply weapons, critical components, and equipment that support the Russian military-industrial complex.
The President also recalled that since June of this year alone, Ukraine has adopted eight sanctions packages, synchronizing them with the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, and all European Union sanctions packages. In total, the restrictions affected 281 individuals and 633 legal entities.
“We are also working to ensure that there are new sanctions steps, in particular, we are counting on the 19th package of sanctions of the European Union. We continue our sanctions work and coordinate with partners on a substantive basis. We appreciate that Ukrainian proposals on sanctions are taken into account by partners when they prepare their packages,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
He emphasized that sanctions against Russia have already become a global form of international cooperation aimed at restoring justice. According to the president, Moscow is feeling the effects of pressure from the civilized world, and it will only intensify in the future.
“Russia is feeling the consequences of world sanctions, and there will be even more pressure for this war,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy summed up.
Recall that Ukraine’s allies are preparing a new stage of economic pressure on Moscow – the so-called “smart” sanctions , which are supposed to hit Russian finances simultaneously with Ukrainian attacks on facilities inside Russia. The West is considering the possibility of using the Kremlin’s frozen assets and introducing new financing mechanisms for Kyiv.
By the way, the European Union plans to significantly increase pressure on Russia by introducing a new sanctions package that will affect three key areas at once – energy, financial services, and trade.
