The Cabinet of Ministers has expanded the state program “Affordable Medicines”. Starting in September 2026, even more Ukrainians will be able to receive free test strips to monitor blood sugar levels.
This was reported by the Ministry of Health.
The program will now include test strips for people with type 2 diabetes who are taking insulin. Previously, this option was only available to patients with type 1 diabetes.
The Ministry of Health notes that expanding the program will help make self-monitoring tools more accessible and help reduce the risk of complications.
How to get test strips
To use the program, you must:
- contact your family doctor or treating physician;
- receive an electronic prescription;
- contact a pharmacy that has an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine.
You can find such a pharmacy by the sticker “Here are “Affordable Medicines”, through the electronic map of drug dispensing locations, or by calling the NSZU contact center at 16-77.
