Ukraine to Receive F-16 Jets from Belgium: When and How Much

The Belgian Ministry of Defense plans to deliver all of its F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by 2029. This delivery rate depends on the delivery of F-35 aircraft, which are intended to replace the F-16s.

This was reported by Le Soir , which notes that Belgium currently has 53 F-16s at its disposal. A corresponding security agreement between Ukraine and Belgium was concluded two years ago during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Brussels.

Among other things, seven F-16s will be delivered in 2026. Four of them are decommissioned and used for training Ukrainian technicians; another five in 2027, fourteen in 2028, and the remaining twenty-seven aircraft in 2029.

These are tentative dates: the schedule must take into account the Air Force’s operational needs and depend on the delivery of F-35 aircraft, which are intended to replace the F-16s.

Earlier, Pryamoy reported that Ukraine still has not received a single F-16 aircraft from Belgium due to delays in the delivery of F-35s.
