Ukraine, weapons and Ramstein: what NATO ministers will discuss on June 18

On Thursday, June 18, NATO’s defense ministers will meet at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The meeting will be a key step in the preparations for the upcoming NATO Leaders’ Summit.

The meeting will be chaired by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The defense ministers will meet in the Nuclear Planning Group format and will also participate in a meeting of the North Atlantic Council.

During the talks, the Allies will discuss defense and security issues, as well as next steps ahead of the meeting of NATO heads of state and government.

Before the meeting, representatives of the Alliance countries will speak to journalists. After the talks, Mark Rutte will hold a press conference.

This meeting will be the final preparatory stage before the NATO summit, which will be held on July 7-8 in Ankara.

In addition to the meeting of defense ministers, a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues in Ukraine in the “Ramstein” format will also be held at the Alliance headquarters on June 18.

At it, the allies will discuss further military support for Ukraine and the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As reported, the leaders of the G7 countries confirmed their intention to strengthen military and economic support for Ukraine . Among the priorities: increasing supplies of air defense systems, long-range weapons, and assistance in the development of Ukrainian defense production.
