Ukraine Announces ‘School Starter Package’: Details of the New Initiative

On Monday, July 7, at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the government will decide to launch the “Student Package” — a new cash payment program.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, the payment amount will be 5,000 hryvnias. Parents of first-graders attending in-person classes will be able to use the funds to purchase stationery, books, children’s clothing, and shoes. The money will be spent exclusively through cashless transactions.

Applications for the payment will be submitted via the Diia app. The Ministry of Social Policy will announce the start of the application process and provide further details later.

It is emphasized that receiving this payment will not affect eligibility for housing subsidies or other social benefits.

“The launch of the ‘School Student Package’ is just one of many innovations aimed at creating conditions for Ukrainians to continue living and working in Ukraine,” Shmyhal concluded.

Recall that in Ukraine, they plan to increase social benefits by introducing financial assistance at the birth of the first and each subsequent child for 50,000 hryvnias.
