Ukraine will not hand over North Korean military prisoners to Russia
Ukraine does not plan to hand over to Russia two North Korean soldiers who were captured by Ukrainian forces during hostilities.
This is reported by Yonhap.
South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyeon stated that he had received appropriate assurances from the Ukrainian side.
According to him, Kyiv guaranteed Seoul that these soldiers would not be sent to either Russia or North Korea.
Earlier, South Korean opposition member of parliament Yoo Yong-won said after a trip to Ukraine that Moscow had allegedly included these soldiers on a list for possible exchange.
The South Korean Foreign Minister did not confirm this information. He noted that the Ukrainian side is not disclosing details about the prisoners, as public discussion of such issues could pose a threat to their safety.
According to Cho Hyon, Seoul is working to ensure the safety of North Korean military personnel and facilitate their possible transfer to South Korea.
It was previously reported that Russia is increasing its influence in African countries, combining humanitarian initiatives with covert military recruitment.
Recall that the Kenyan parliament stated that Russia recruited over a thousand of the country’s citizens to participate in the war against Ukraine .
