Ukraine will receive 1.1 billion kroons in winter aid from Sweden: where will the funds be directed?

On Monday, September 29, Sweden announced the allocation of a new winter humanitarian aid package to Ukraine worth 1.1 billion Swedish kronor.

This was reported by the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine on the social network X.

“We must strengthen Ukraine’s resilience in every way,” stressed Swedish Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dusa.

According to the government, the funds will be directed to energy, housing, healthcare, demining, support for refugees, and independent media.

The largest expense items:

  • 450 million CZK will be spent on energy needs and repairs of critical infrastructure in the winter;
  • 385 million crowns to the World Bank’s Ukraine Reconstruction Trust Fund for energy restoration, housing, and refugee support;
  • 100 million CZK for demining and restoration of mined areas;
  • 30 million crowns — to support independent Ukrainian media;
  • 25 million CZK to strengthen the justice sector;
  • 10 million CZK for professional training in logistics and transport.

The package also provides funding for food, housing, emergency assistance, and heating to support Ukrainians during the winter.

Earlier, Sweden announced the provision of a new, 20th, package of military and civilian support to Ukraine for a total of $836 million.

As a reminder, the Chief of the General Staff of Sweden, Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström, stated that the country will join the “Danish model” of purchasing weapons for Ukraine .
