Ukraine will receive 150 Gripen fighters from Sweden: when will they arrive?

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the first Swedish Gripen fighter jets will arrive in Ukraine next year. This decision will significantly strengthen combat aviation and guarantees of the state’s security.
He wrote about this in Telegram .
According to Zelensky, Ukraine, together with Sweden, will significantly expand its aviation potential.
“This is an ambitious task, and it must be accomplished. Now the historic step is the agreement with Sweden on Gripen combat aircraft, and this is a good choice. We are counting on 150 such aircraft for Ukraine, and the first ones should appear next year,” the president noted.
The Head of State emphasized that Gripen will become part of Ukraine’s security guarantees.
“Such an Air Force will be able to protect our skies one hundred percent. And such a large-scale agreement on combat aviation has never been signed for Ukraine before. A historic achievement. We are working to fully implement it,” Zelensky added.
The President also emphasized the importance of this agreement for strategically strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
As is known, on October 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson signed an agreement on the intention to purchase from 100 to 150 new JAS 39 Gripen E fighters .
It was previously reported that Sweden has declared its readiness to expand military assistance to Ukraine and is considering the possibility of transferring Gripen combat aircraft.
