Ukraine will receive 18 new Archers: Sweden announced a record aid package

Sweden has announced a new, 20th, package of military and civilian assistance to Ukraine totaling $836 million.
This was announced by Swedish Defense Minister Poul Jonsson.
According to the details released, the largest part of the package is 18 new Archer artillery systems and 155-millimeter shells for them. The total cost of this part is $327 million. After this delivery, Ukraine will have 44 such installations.
“When I visited a Ukrainian company using Archer last month, the military confirmed its effectiveness against Russian targets,” the minister said.
What else is included in the assistance package:
$190 million – for the purchase of naval equipment: mobile coastal radars, new naval auxiliary vessels with grenade launchers, unmanned naval systems;
32 Class 90 combat boats will be retrofitted with sensors, radar systems, and weapons;
$12.7 million – for the transfer of 500 motorcycles and equipment for servicing air bases (in particular, trucks and tractors);
Tridon Mk 2 air defense systems will receive new radars and control systems, as well as 40 mm anti-aircraft ammunition;
$68 million – to finance coalitions that are developing new defense capabilities for Ukraine;
A separate part of the aid consists of secret projects and systems, the details of which are not disclosed.
“The Russian army can expect Swedish-Ukrainian surprises in the future. Sweden will continue to put tough pressure on Russia until it stops this war,” Jonsson stressed.
In addition to the current package, the Swedish government has decided on annual military assistance to Ukraine in 2026–2027 in the amount of $3.6 billion, as well as $900 million in annual civilian funding in 2026–2028.
As a reminder, the Chief of the Swedish General Staff, Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström, announced that Sweden will join the “Danish model” of weapons purchases for Ukraine.
As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the preparation of new joint steps with Sweden in the development of combat aviation.
