US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine could regain control of a significant part of its territories and restore peaceful life as a result of a peace agreement with Russia. At the same time, he stressed that joining NATO and returning Crimea are unrealistic, and US troops will not participate in security guarantees for Ukraine.

This is reported by Fox News.

Trump said that after agreements with Moscow, Ukraine “will get its life back, will get a lot of land.”

“Ukraine will get its life back, people will stop being killed in the country, and it will get a lot of land. This is a war that should not have started. You don’t start a war with a country that is ten times bigger,” Trump stressed.

The American president acknowledged that Russia currently controls a significant part of the occupied territories, including about 79% of Donbas.

The issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the return of Crimea

Trump specifically emphasized that the key factors in starting the war were Ukraine’s desire to return Crimea and its application to join NATO. In his opinion, these steps were the trigger for the Kremlin.

“Both Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the return of Crimea are impossible,” the American president said, commenting on Kyiv’s policy on Euro-Atlantic integration and territorial integrity.

Security guarantees and the role of the US

At the same time, Trump confirmed that US troops would not be deployed to Ukraine even after a peace deal was signed. He explained that the issue of the presence of ground forces would be the responsibility of European allies – France, Germany and the UK.

“We have European countries, and they will be involved at the beginning. This will not be a problem,” he noted.

The American leader also emphasized that the United States has already provided Ukraine with “the best military equipment in the world,” including Patriot systems, and noted the bravery of the Ukrainian military in fighting against superior enemy forces.

As we recall, talks at the White House between US President Donald Trump and European leaders have launched the formation of a new security architecture for Ukraine. The future guarantees will include four key elements – a military presence, air defense systems, weapons supplies, and a mechanism for monitoring the cessation of hostilities.

As is known, a group of over 30 states, including Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and France, is actively working on creating a concept of international security guarantees for Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that US President Donald Trump, together with the leaders of European countries, agreed to create a special working group that will prepare a draft of security guarantees for Ukraine. This intergovernmental format will be headed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

It is worth adding that France, Great Britain and a number of other European countries are planning to send a limited military contingent to Ukraine . This involves the creation of a so-called “deterrence force”, which will include several thousand foreign military personnel.
