Ukraine will receive a new batch of armored vehicles from Latvia: details

Latvia has decided to transfer additional CVR(T) armored combat vehicles to Ukraine. Riga emphasizes that military support for Kyiv will continue.

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže.

According to her, in 2025, the volume of military assistance to Ukraine from Latvia amounted to 0.3% of the country’s gross domestic product.

She noted that Riga will continue to support Ukraine to strengthen its positions on the battlefield and bring a just peace closer.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds added that in 2026, the level of aid to Ukraine will be 0.25% of GDP.

According to him, the support will last as long as necessary, and the transfer of new equipment will not affect the defense capability of Latvia itself.

The CVR(T) is a family of British tracked combat vehicles developed in the 1960s. They are known for their speed, maneuverability, and mobility.

This technique was used in the Falklands War, during operations in the Persian Gulf, and also in Afghanistan.

The CVR(T) series includes the Scorpion and Scimitar light tanks, the Spartan armored personnel carrier, the Striker anti-tank gun, and the Sultan command and staff vehicle.

In total, more than 3.5 thousand of these combat vehicles were produced worldwide.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces a new ground robotic complex “Bizon-L”.

As a reminder, Ukraine agreed with Belgium and Spain on key areas of defense cooperation on the eve of the meeting in the Ramstein format.
