The Latvian government on Tuesday approved the transfer of 42 Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, along with additional military equipment, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The decision is aimed at strengthening support in the confrontation with Russian aggression.

The transfer is reported by the Latvian Ministry of Defense.

As is known, the armored personnel carriers were ordered earlier this year. Defense Minister Andris Spruds assured that “the first vehicles will be shipped soon.”

He also promised that Latvia would continue to support Ukraine: “we will provide military assistance in the amount of 0.25% of gross domestic product both this year and next.”

The department separately noted that this transfer of equipment will not affect the operational needs or combat capability of the Latvian army.

Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers are developed and manufactured as part of a joint defense project between Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Germany, with a production base in Finland and Latvia.

Recall, Latvia transferred another 1,500 strike drones to Ukraine within the framework of the International Drone Coalition.

As reported, the Latvian government has decided to transfer 31 cars confiscated from drivers who were caught drunk to Ukraine free of charge.
