Ukraine will receive additional air defense equipment from Germany – Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after the Russian attack on the Leipzig airfield. The parties also discussed the preparation of the Drone Deal and new air defense packages for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram.

According to the president, Merz informed him about the measures Germany had taken after the attack on the Leipzig airport. Zelensky called the strike another Russian escalation and stressed the importance of Berlin’s response.

The President also offered Germany Ukrainian assistance, including expertise and experience in countering Russian threats.

Separately, Zelensky and Merz discussed the upcoming Drone Deal. According to the president, the Ukrainian and German teams are already finalizing its text.

“This, among other things, will definitely provide opportunities for defense for both Germany and Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.

The parties discussed the content of the document and the timing of its signing, and also agreed on a personal meeting.

In addition, Zelenskyy announced new military aid from Berlin. According to him, Germany will transfer new air defense packages to Ukraine this month.

As a reminder,Germany officially stated that Russia was responsible for the attempted sabotage at Leipzig/Halle airport . In early August, a drone with explosives was discovered there near a Ukrainian cargo plane.
