Germany, Poland and Norway have joined forces to provide Ukraine with a new aid package totaling $500 million, with Berlin’s contribution amounting to $200 million.
This was announced by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful before the start of the meeting of the NATO Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We are proud that, together with our partners from Poland and Norway, we were able to prepare a significant support package for Ukraine. The sum of $500 million is significant, of which $200 million is provided by Germany,” he noted.
According to Vadeful, the new aid package is evidence of a shared determination to resist Russian aggression.
The German minister also noted the importance of efforts to end the war, but emphasized Russia’s lack of real readiness for constructive peace negotiations.
“Today, we do not observe any serious willingness on the part of the Russian side to sit down at the negotiating table. Therefore, it is important for us to clearly demonstrate our position: we firmly support Ukraine and are ready to help as much as necessary. This package, as well as our further steps at the EU level to use frozen Russian assets, demonstrate our commitment to this course,” the German Foreign Minister added.
As a reminder, Germany is significantly increasing its support for Ukraine: the Bundestag has approved the budget for 2026, which includes 11.5 billion euros for our country. This is a record amount of aid since the start of the full-scale invasion.
