Ukraine will receive assistance from Norway to prepare for winter: details
Norway will allocate about 40 million euros to Ukraine for energy.
This was reported by the country’s government.
The funds will go towards restoring the power system, developing local generation, batteries, and renewable energy projects.
Norway says the aid should support Ukraine’s energy sector before next winter and make it less vulnerable to Russian attacks.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said that we need to prepare for winter now.
The EU also noted that the funding will help Ukraine to more quickly modernize its energy system and bring it closer to European standards.
Support will be provided through the EU program for Ukraine, which attracts funding from international banks and partners.
It was previously reported that the UK government plans to begin negotiations on joining the European Union’s €90 billion loan program for Ukraine . Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce his intention to cooperate with the EU on supporting Ukraine and supplying military equipment.
As a reminder, Ukraine received the last tranche of financial assistance from the UK — 752 million pounds sterling (approximately 1 billion dollars) . These funds will be used for the needs of the security and defense sector.
