Ukraine will receive Gripen fighters from Sweden. Deliveries of used aircraft are scheduled to begin next year, and new ones from 2030. In addition, Kyiv is expecting deliveries of F-16s and Mirages.

Defense Express experts estimated the number of aircraft Ukraine could receive from allies.

Let’s start with the F-16: taking into account the lost aircraft, Ukraine has up to 39 of these aircraft in its assets, which were supplied by the Netherlands and Denmark. Norway is to deliver another six, and Belgium is to deliver up to 30 fighters.

Regarding the transfer of aircraft from Belgium, 30 aircraft are the official figures. However, it has recently become known about plans to transfer all 53 F-16 fighters, but it is unknown how many of them will be operational.

The transfer dates from Belgium are until 2029 inclusive.

It is currently unknown when Norway will hand over the aircraft, but experts suggest that this will also happen by 2030.

That is, for the F-16, we can expect a total number of 75 to 98 aircraft in 2030. This does not take into account potential donors, such as Portugal, which is looking for a replacement for its F-16s.

It is known that a total of six French Mirage 2000-5 aircraft are to be delivered. Three aircraft have been delivered since the beginning of the year, one of which was lost, so we can talk about five aircraft in total.

In addition, France is actively working to get Greece to join in and provide Ukraine with aircraft. Although it was previously reported that the French were planning to negotiate with the Greeks for all 43 of their Mirage fighters (including 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk II fighters and another 19 Mirage 2000 EGM/BGM), it later became known that France would try to negotiate for Ukraine only 10 fighters.

So, a realistic figure from Greece is from 5 to 15 aircraft.

The unlikely scenario has 41 aircraft, not including the Greek Mirage 2000 EGM/BGM, which will definitely be used as spare parts donors.

If the contract for the Gripen E is signed, Sweden must deliver 16 used Gripen C/D aircraft. The delivery dates are not yet known, but experts assume that this will happen by 2030 inclusive.

In particular, in a realistic scenario, Ukraine will have from 96 to 129 F-16, Mirage, and Gripen fighters. This list does not include losses of aircraft, nor does it take into account that some aircraft may be supplied as spare parts donors.

A completely fantastic scenario involves up to 155 fighters — also without taking into account donors and losses.

Earlier, “Pryamiy” reported that Sweden will transfer the first 16 Gripen fighters to Ukraine. These are JAS 39 Gripen C/D modification aircraft, and deliveries are expected in early 2027.

Sweden may also announce the transfer of JAS 39 Gripen fighters to Ukraine in the near future . In addition, Stockholm is allegedly considering the possibility of selling Kyiv more modern versions of these aircraft with the support of the European Union.
