Germany has agreed to provide Ukraine with two more Patriot air defense systems after reaching an agreement with the United States to replace the transferred equipment.

This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

According to him, the US undertook to supply Berlin with new systems, which allowed the German government to make a decision in favor of Kyiv.

“Germany will be first in line to receive new Patriots, which will replace those that will be transferred to Ukraine,” Pistorius said.

It is expected that the launchers will be transferred in the coming days, and the remaining components within two to three months.

Earlier, Ukraine officially appealed to Germany with a request to help purchase two Patriot systems from the United States. After another meeting in the Ramstein format, the allies announced their intention to find five batteries for Ukraine. At the same time, according to the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, the real need is at least ten systems.

Recall that the Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, which the US promised to transfer to Ukraine, will arrive in Germany no earlier than the spring of 2026.

As reported, the first battery of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, which was promised as part of Donald Trump’s new aid package, arrived in Ukraine on July 25.

By the way, Lithuania plans to promote the purchase of American long-range Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine, allocating up to 30 million euros for this.
