Ukraine plans to speed up the identification of the bodies of repatriated military and civilian personnel and eliminate delays at certain stages. They also plan to strengthen interaction and information exchange between government agencies.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky in Telegram.

The relevant issue was discussed during a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense. The participants analyzed the entire identification process — from the forensic medical examination to the procedures that are carried out after its completion.

“The state must speed up the process of identifying the bodies of repatriated military and civilians. Eliminate unnecessary delays, strengthen interaction and information exchange between departments,” Koretsky said.

According to him, coordination between departments needs to be improved at all stages of the procedure so that the necessary actions are carried out more quickly. The Prime Minister instructed to prepare a specific plan for the relevant changes within a week.

At the same time, the state is working to expand the capabilities of forensic medical examination. Currently, relevant studies are conducted by 21 regional bureaus of the State Medical Examination Service, which are subordinate to the Ministry of Health.

The draft state budget for 2027 has allocated over UAH 600 million for this area. The funds are planned to be used, in particular, to provide the bureau with the necessary equipment.

“We must ensure that families receive accurate information as soon as possible and can say goodbye to their loved ones with dignity,” Koretsky emphasized.

It was previously reported that on Thursday, September 17, the bodies of 252 dead, including military personnel, were returned to Ukraine.
