On the night of January 7, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck an oil depot in Russia’s Belgorod region, as well as a logistics unit for occupation forces in the Donetsk region.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
As reported, on the evening of January 6, the governor of the Belgorod region announced a drone attack on an oil depot in the city of Stary Oskol. The General Staff confirmed the hit on the Oskolneftesnab facility near the village of Kotel, emphasizing that the strike was carried out to reduce the offensive potential of the Russian aggressor.
A massive fire broke out at an oil depot after tanks were hit. The extent of the damage is still being determined.
In addition, in order to disrupt enemy logistics in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region, the Defense Forces destroyed the logistics of a unit of the 20th motorized rifle division of the Russian Federation.
The General Staff also reported that, as a result of preliminary strikes at the Temp strategic reserve oil depot in Russia’s Yaroslavl region, two vertical storage tanks of the RVS-5000 type were damaged.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to systematically operate to undermine the offensive and military-economic potential of the Russian occupation forces and to force Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.
As a reminder, drones attacked the Russian city of Syzran on the night of December 28. The strike could have hit an oil refinery and electrical substations.
As reported, on the night of December 26, residents of Volgograd, Russia, reported a series of loud explosions in various parts of the city. According to preliminary information, the local Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery was hit again, causing a massive fire after the attack.
