Ukraine Unleashes AI Hunters: Drones Now Shoot Down Shaheds on Their Own
Ukrainian developers have created an interceptor drone capable of independently locating and destroying Russian “Shahed” strike drones. The technology has already been tested in combat conditions.
This was announced on Telegram by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to him, the development was created by a member of the Brave1 cluster. The system automates 95% of the interception process—from launching the drone to hitting the target.
The operator tracks the movement of air targets in real time, selects the desired target, and issues the attack command. After that, the drone independently follows the target, recognizes it, and aims at the “shaheed.”
The new technology has already been tested in the Kharkiv region. According to Fedorov, the developer, with the support of Brave1, went from creating a prototype for combat use to deploying it in less than a year.
The minister emphasized that autonomous systems are becoming a key area of development in air defense. Such solutions make it possible to respond more quickly to massive attacks by Russian drones and increase the effectiveness of the defense of Ukrainian cities.
Currently, Ukraine is working to scale up the technology and increase the number of such interceptor drones.
Recall that Ukraine has doubled the supply of interceptor drones for the army since the beginning of 2026 compared to the entire year 2025.
