The Security Service of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces, and the Defense Ministry’s GUR reported the destruction of the Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery and the Starolikeevo Oil Pumping Station. Both facilities are strategically important and provide fuel for the Russian army.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
“Fulfilling the tasks set by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky within the framework of the 40-day operation to influence the Russian Federation, the SBU, together with the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces, and the GUR of the Ministry of Defense, successfully struck the Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery and the Starolikeevo Linear Production and Dispatching Station (LVDS) in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russia. The distance to the target is 850 kilometers,” the report says.
It is known that Russian air defense was actively operating in the Kstovo area at night. After that, a series of explosions were heard near the Nizhny Novgorod oil refinery and the Starolikeevo oil and gas processing plant.
The department emphasized that as a result of the attack, at least two fire outbreaks occurred in the industrial zone of the aforementioned facilities.
In addition, the Nizhny Novgorod Refinery is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the Russian Federation.
It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products. Much of this output is used to supply the Russian army.
At the same time, the Starolikeevo LVDS is an important node in the system of main oil product pipelines, through which fuel is transported to the central regions of the Russian Federation.
“Each oil refinery, oil depot, or oil pumping station hit weakens the enemy’s fuel supply and directly reduces its ability to wage war. Unlike Russia, which strikes residential buildings and kills peaceful Ukrainians, the SBU strikes exclusively at targets and facilities that work for the Russian military-industrial complex,” the Security Service noted.
It was previously reported that on the night of Thursday, July 2, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region . After that, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery. According to preliminary data, the enterprise was attacked by drones.
