After the attack by Ukrainian drones, the Volgograd oil refinery in Russia stopped operations.
This was reported by Reuters.
It is reported that the drones hit the primary processing unit CDU-5. Its daily capacity was 9,100 metric tons, or 66,700 barrels per day — a fifth of the plant’s capacity.
In addition, the attack also managed to damage a hydrocracking plant with a capacity of 11,000 tons per day.
“The plant has been shut down. The CDU-5 unit was on fire, there is some damage to the hydrocracking unit,” one of the sources told Reuters.
As the news agency notes, the Volgograd Refinery processed 13.7 million metric tons of oil last year, which is 5.1% of the total volume of Russian oil refineries.
As a reminder, on the night of November 6, explosions were heard in Volgograd and a fire broke out on the territory of an oil refinery.
