Ukrainian intelligence attacked an important Russian internet provider: what is known

Cyber specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate attacked one of the largest Internet providers in Siberia, Orion Telecom.

This was reported by Ukrinform, citing intelligence.

It is noted that the provider admitted the data leak and asked the police to initiate criminal proceedings. The company’s losses amounted to at least 66 million rubles.

At the same time, under Russian law, Orion Telecom is likely to receive a fine of up to 15 million rubles for allowing the data leak.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, Russian security forces are actively using Orion Telecom for aggression against Ukraine.

Cyber experts have previously attacked this company. As a result of the actions of the GUR MO employees, a closed city specializing in uranium mining was left without communication, and local residents of Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Bratsk, and Abakan complained about the lack of Internet and television.

We will remind you that in June 2025, GUR cyber specialists conducted an operation that paralyzed the work of Orion Telecom . As a result of the hacking operation, approximately 370 servers and 500 network switches were disabled.

By the way, the GUR carried out a large-scale DDOS attack on the aggressor’s network infrastructure , which provides online payments for fuel in Russia, in particular the functioning of fuel cards.
