Ukrainian intelligence has discovered that North Korea is continuously supplying Russia with huge amounts of ammunition, from artillery shells to ballistic missiles and multiple launch rocket systems, using sea, rail and air routes. Up to several million shells are supplied per month through just one targeted channel.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) in a comment to LIGA.net.
Maritime logistics:
The Russian ships Angara, Maria, Maia-1, and Lady R make monthly trips to the ports of Vladivostok and Nakhodka. According to the GUR, millions of artillery shells, which make up the lion’s share of the Kremlin’s rear arsenals, were delivered via these routes.
Railway deliveries:
Containers of ammunition move through the border station of Hasan. The rapid growth of rail connections confirms that Pyongyang supports Russian artillery – many units on the front line use Korean-made shells.
Air speed:
Airplanes are used for accelerated and covert transportation. They are used to deliver short-range missiles of the KN-23/24 type to the Russian Federation, weapons with autonomous guidance capabilities.
What specifically comes in:
Hwasong-11 ballistic missiles, which have already been used by the Kremlin to strike Ukraine.
Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of calibers 600 mm, 240 mm and 107 mm.
About 190 self-propelled artillery mounts, 100 howitzers and up to 100 mortars.
In total, up to 6–9 million artillery shells (these figures are cited by various Ukrainian and international intelligence sources).
As a result, the DPRK is effectively closing critical sources of Russian artillery fire, which makes it possible to maintain massive shelling in conditions of internal ammunition shortages.
As a reminder, North Korea is planning to transfer up to 6,000 troops and equipment to Russia in the near future.
As reported, the DPRK transferred approximately 6.5 million 122-caliber artillery shells and up to 600 artillery systems to Russia .
