Ukrainian interceptor drone destroys Shahed jet for the second time in a day

The Security Service of Ukraine used a new domestic interceptor drone against a Russian air target for the second time in a day. The SBU’s military counterintelligence destroyed the Geran-5 jet drone.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We have the second successful use of a new Ukrainian interceptor drone by the Security Service of Ukraine today,” Zelenskyy noted.

The President added that SBU military counterintelligence fighters shot down a Russian jet drone “Geran-5”

The day before, Zelenskyy heard a report by the head of the SBU, Oleksandr Poklad, and reported on the results of the work of military counterintelligence in countering the Shahed rockets.

“A new interceptor drone has been created and has already been successfully used. Step by step, we are moving to give Ukraine more protection. I thank all the developers and manufacturers who work every day to scale up the weapons we need,” the president said.

By the way, Ukrainian developers have created a digital communication system PALYCH, which changes the frequencies of the drone control channel depending on the radio-electronic environment. According to the developers, the technology allows for the extension of the use of civilian UAVs at the front for up to 6–8 months.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, two companies have successfully tested new interceptor drones designed to combat Shahed jets. During combat tests, one of these interceptors destroyed a Russian drone.
