Ukrainian jet interceptor goes hunting for Shahed: what can it do?

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have received the first Ukrainian jet-powered unmanned interceptor, the Alexa Spatium. It was designed to combat small air targets, primarily Russian strike drones.
The developers reported on the capabilities of the new complex, the Ministry of Defense reports . During the tests, Alexa Spatium confirmed the declared tactical and technical characteristics.
The main purpose of the interceptor is to destroy Russian kamikaze drones. Among the targets against which it is planned to be used are “Geran-3”, “Geran-4”, “Geran-5” and Shahed-131. The device can also be used against reconnaissance drones, helicopters and other aerial targets.
Unlike most conventional drones, the Alexa Spatium is equipped with a turbojet engine. This allows it to quickly gain altitude and quickly go to intercept the target.
The device can operate at various altitudes, from low to medium altitudes. It can be programmed to fly at specified coordinates or use direct guidance to a target.
Television and infrared systems are provided for searching and hitting targets. The complex also has its own control and video transmission systems.
Another feature is the possibility of using different types of warheads, including high-explosive fragmentation, cumulative, and thermobaric.
Alexa Spatium measures approximately 1.5 by 1.7 meters. It is launched using a mobile catapult that can be set up in minutes.
The body is made of lightweight composite materials. According to the developers, this design allows the aircraft to perform sharp maneuvers and maintain control during flight.
The complex has also been made mobile – all the necessary equipment can be transported in a pickup truck. Preparation and launch are maximally automated, so the system does not require complex position preparation for operation.
The developers also provided for the possibility of reusing the device. If the interceptor does not complete its task, it can return to the launch area.
Thus, Alexa Spatium is considered not just as a separate strike drone, but as a high-speed means of combating enemy drones. Its appearance should strengthen the Ukrainian system of countering Russian UAVs used for attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Recall that combat tests of the first domestic jet interceptor drones, designed to combat a new generation of Russian drones, are underway in Ukraine. One of these devices is already reaching speeds of over 600 km/h.
