On Friday, June 20, Ukrainian journalist Vladislav Yesypenko was released from Russian custody and left annexed Crimea.

This was reported on June 22 in “Crimea.Reality”.

As noted, the journalist was illegally detained by the Russians for more than four years.

“For more than four years, Vlad has been arbitrarily punished for a crime he did not commit. He has paid too high a price for reporting the truth about what was happening in Russian-occupied Crimea,” said Steven Kapus, President and Director General of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

According to him, during his illegal detention, the Russians physically and psychologically tortured Yesypenko.

“We thank the governments of the United States and Ukraine for their efforts that helped secure Vladyslav’s release. We also express our gratitude to the international community for supporting our journalists,” the media director general added.

As a reminder, in 2021, the Russian occupiers in Crimea indicted the illegally detained Ukrainian journalist Vladislav Yesipenko . He was charged under Article 223-1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal manufacture of explosives, processing or repair of explosive devices) and under Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their main parts, ammunition).

The media reported that Radio Liberty freelancer Vladislav Yesipenko, who was arrested in Crimea , was tortured with electric current by Russian FSB officers for two days to extract a “confession.”
