In the fourth-round match at Roland Garros, Marta Kostyuk, ranked 15th in the WTA rankings, defeated world number three Iga Świątek from Poland in straight sets. The match ended 7:5, 6:1 in favor of the Ukrainian tennis player.

In the first set, Kostyuk lost two breaks to her opponent and played one serve per game. With a score of 4:5, the Ukrainian won three consecutive games and the set.

Swiontek started the second game with a break, but after that Kostyuk won six games in a row and ended the match in her favor.

This was the fourth head-to-head match between the tennis players. Marta Kostyuk won for the first time over Iga Świątek. Before that, the Ukrainian had not won a single set against the Polish athlete.

In the quarterfinals of the tournament, Kostyuk will play against the winner of the match between Elina Svitolina and Belinda Bencic.

For Marta Kostiuk, this will be her first career quarterfinal at Roland Garros and her second quarterfinal at a Grand Slam tournament. She previously reached this stage at the 2024 Australian Open.

Kostyuk became the second Ukrainian tennis player after Elina Svitolina to reach the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.

The victory over Swiatek was the Ukrainian’s 16th straight. This season, Marta Kostiuk is undefeated on clay. Before Roland Garros, she won the WTA 250 in Rouen and the WTA 1000 in Madrid.

By the way, on Sunday, May 31, Ukraine’s top seed Elina Svitolina (WTA 7) will play against Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic (WTA 11) in the fourth round of the French Open at Roland Garros.
