Ukrainian military attacked Balaklava TPP and destroyed Tor air defense system

Underground members of the Resistance Movement of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, together with Deep Strike units of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, struck the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant in temporarily occupied Sevastopol. In addition, fighters of the Omega Special Operations Center destroyed a Russian Tor anti-aircraft missile system.

It is noted that the operation to destroy the Balaklava TPP was carried out on the night of July 14. According to preliminary information, the attack damaged the machine shop with the cooling system of one of the Siemens SGT5-2000E turbines. If the pumping equipment was damaged, the repair could take from two to five months.

The SSO emphasized that the Balaklava TPP is one of the key energy facilities of the temporarily occupied Crimea. Together with the Tavria TPP in Simferopol, it provides about 90% of the peninsula’s electricity needs.

According to the military, stable power supply to these stations is critical for the functioning of Russian command centers, communication nodes, radar stations, air defense systems, electronic warfare equipment, repair facilities, military airfields, and the Black Sea Fleet. The SSO noted that the destruction of such facilities weakens the offensive and defensive capabilities of the Russian army and complicates its logistics.

In addition, fighters of the 4th separate detachment of the Omega Special Purpose Center of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed the Russian Tor anti-aircraft missile system, the estimated cost of which is about $25 million.

According to the unit, the special forces used a Hornet kamikaze drone to destroy enemy equipment. The military noted that its cost is approximately 5,000 times less than the price of the destroyed complex.

Omega reported that Russian troops planned to use the Tor air defense system to strengthen the air defense system in the Luhansk direction. However, Ukrainian drone operators successfully hit its firing position.

It was previously reported that the Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, announced the start of a new phase of Operation “MoLoChKa” in the Black Sea . According to him, on the night of July 15 alone, Ukrainian drones hit 20 vessels of the Russian shadow fleet.
