Ukrainian military held all key positions during winter – Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian military personnel achieved significant results on the front during the winter of 2025-2026 and held all key defensive positions.
This was stated in the head of state’s Telegram .
Zelenskyy said he had spoken with French President Emmanuel Macron . During the conversation, the leaders discussed the situation on the frontline, Ukraine’s defense needs, and European security issues.
The President also informed his French counterpart about the consequences of Russia’s latest massive attack on Ukraine.
“I briefed you on the consequences of the massive Russian strike last night, as well as on the developments on the front. Ukrainian soldiers have achieved tangible results this winter and held all key defensive lines,” Zelenskyy noted.
In addition, the parties discussed the importance of implementing the agreement to allocate 90 billion euros in support for Ukraine over the next two years, as well as the introduction of a new package of sanctions against Russia.
The leaders separately discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region, in particular, developments surrounding Iran .
According to Zelensky, Macron supported Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen security in the region, noting the importance of Ukraine’s experience in countering Iranian Shahed drones.
The President added that Ukraine, together with France, is preparing for new common formats of diplomatic work in the coming weeks.
