The negotiations discussed renaming part of Donbas “Donnyland” to attract US support.

The NYT writes about this.

According to the publication, the Ukrainian side considered unconventional options during the negotiations. Among them is the idea of renaming the part of Donbas that remains under Ukrainian control as “Donnyland” in order to enlist the political support of Donald Trump.

Another option involved creating a semi-autonomous entity in this territory, based on the “Monaco model.” It was a microstate with offshore status to attract investment.

According to journalists, the concept of the “Monaco model” even appeared in draft agreements.

It is also noted that Ukrainian negotiators have prepared symbols for “Donnyland”—in particular, a green-and-gold flag and an AI-generated version of the anthem.

Earlier, it was reported that US President Donald Trump’s advisers are urging him to give fewer spontaneous interviews to journalists amid the escalation in the Middle East. Such statements could affect negotiations and complicate official communication.

As a reminder, the administration of US President Donald Trump has presented a project for a 76-meter triumphal arch to be built in Washington.
