Major Oleksandr Borovik of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade was killed in the Zaporizhia direction while performing a combat mission. The pilot died while flying a Su-27 fighter jet while performing a mission to protect the sky from Russian aggression.

This was reported by the press service of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade.

The military statement noted that the tragedy occurred at around 1:30 p.m. when the Su-27 aircraft crashed during a combat sortie. The causes and circumstances of the crash are currently being determined.

“We are sad to announce that on September 11, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., in the Zaporizhia direction, while performing a combat mission on a Su-27 aircraft, our comrade, the pilot of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade, Major Oleksandr Mykolayovych Borovik, born on April 19, 1995, died. The reasons and circumstances are being investigated,” the message says.

The brigade expressed deep condolences to the hero’s family and loved ones, noting his courage and dedication to the cause of defending Ukraine.

“Eternal memory of the Hero!” the military added.

Oleksandr Borovyk was born on April 19, 1995. He served in the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade and was one of the pilots who participated in performing complex combat missions in the skies over Ukraine. He flew the Su-27 fighter jet, a fourth-generation combat aircraft that is still actively used by the Ukrainian Air Force to protect airspace.
