Ukrainian prisoner in Russia sentenced to 22 years in strict regime prison

The Southern District Military Court of the Russian Federation in Rostov-on-Don has sentenced Ukrainian prisoner of war Roman Klyukin to 22 years in prison. He was charged with “espionage” and participation in the activities of a “terrorist organization.”

This was reported by Mediazona with reference to the press service of the Russian court.

According to the court’s decision, Klyukin must spend the first five years in prison, and the rest of the term in a maximum-security colony.

The Russian side claims that in the fall of 2024, the Ukrainian allegedly signed a contract with the Crimean Tatar battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan and served as a rifleman-sanitary officer.

The Russian Federation also claims that in January 2025, Klyukin allegedly collected information about Russian military personnel in the Donetsk region.

According to Russian security forces, the man was captured on March 7, 2025 in the Kursk region.

The court’s press service also stated that the Ukrainian allegedly pleaded guilty.

Recall that in temporarily occupied Tokmak , Russian occupation “courts” sentenced two local residents, accusing them of alleged “high treason” for transferring funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine through Ukrainian banking applications.

As reported, Olga Chernyavska, a resident of temporarily occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhia region, was sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges of “espionage.”
