Russian forces are facing devastating losses in the Pokrovsk and Dobropillya sectors, where Ukrainian defenders have captured over 2,200 enemy soldiers since the beginning of the year, according to official reports from the Defense Forces.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a conversation with journalists.

“Putin needed Dobropillya. And our guys did the right thing. We don’t know what the Russians would have done if we hadn’t carried out the Dobropillya operation. They wiped out a huge number of their troops there. Our forces captured 2,200 of them—that’s in just six months of 2025. The entire eastern front—Dobropillya, Pokrovsk—brought us 2,200 Russian prisoners. Imagine how many more they’ve lost,” Zelenskyy said.

The President also noted that the Russian command had planned to capture Pokrovsk last year but suffered heavy setbacks and losses. According to him, the city remains one of the enemy’s key objectives, particularly as the Kremlin seeks to strengthen its negotiating position with the United States.

As a reminder, fierce urban fighting continues in Pokrovsk: Russian troops, taking advantage of their numerical superiority, have infiltrated the city, but Ukrainian defenders continue to actively resist and destroy the enemy.

Earlier, it was reported that approximately 200 Russian infidels had penetrated Ukrainian positions in Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region; gunfire continues in the city.
