The Ukrainian team went to the Persian Gulf region to help countries protect the lives of their populations and resolve the situation.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In particular, military personnel and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov left Ukraine for the Middle East.
“We see what challenges there are now because of strikes from Iran – because of this whole war, which could drag on. In fact, the Iranian regime has blocked the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the main routes for supplying oil and gas to the world market,” the president noted.
He emphasized that this is significant destabilization, and a settlement is also necessary for Ukraine.
Zelensky noted that it is necessary for countries that are currently seeking help from Ukrainians to continue to support Ukraine and contribute to its defense, especially in the context of air defense.
In particular, he recalled that last year Kyiv proposed to Washington to conclude an agreement on drones, calling it “the right perspective.”
“Ukraine has the world’s greatest experience in countering strike drones, and without our experience and that of the Gulf region, the entire Middle East, and partners in Europe and America, it will be very difficult to build strong defense. We are ready to help those who help us, help Ukraine,” the president assured.
He added that Umerov, together with the military, intelligence, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will prepare certain agreements.
“Ukraine is a reliable security donor, this is not only our security – this is our economic perspective. Protection for Ukraine, cooperation with partners, development for Ukrainian industries. Everything that Ukrainians have learned for their protection can be a global basis for security – a global basis for a protected life,” Zelenskyy summed up.
As a reminder, Ukraine has sent three teams of experts to the Middle East . They will work in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
Ukraine previously sent an expert team and interceptor drones to help protect American military bases in Jordan.
