Ukrainian teenager Vadym Davydenko stabbed to death in Ireland: suspect arrested

In Ireland, police have arrested a 17-year-old Somali national suspected of murdering Ukrainian Vadym Davydenko. The tragedy occurred on October 15 at the Tusla temporary detention center for minors in Dublin.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the incident. He was formally charged with murder on October 17. The boy did not answer any questions when he was arraigned, the detective handling the case said.
At the court hearing on October 18, journalists noted that the suspect was constantly muttering something under his breath. His name is not being released because Irish law guarantees minors the right to anonymity.
The judge ordered the boy to be remanded in custody at Oberstown Children’s Correctional Centre in Dublin. As murder cases are not bailable, the issue of a restraining order was not considered. The next court hearing is scheduled for October 21.
The tragedy occurred at Grattan Wood, a housing complex run by Tusla, a state agency that houses asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors.
According to police, an argument broke out between two teenagers, during which the Ukrainian man received multiple stab wounds to the head, arms, and upper body. Medics were unable to save the young man’s life – he died at the scene.
An employee of the center was also injured during an attempt to stop the conflict.
Irish media reported that the deceased is 17-year-old Ukrainian citizen Vadym Davydenko. This information was confirmed by the Embassy of Ukraine in Ireland, which is currently assisting the family of the deceased and is dealing with the issue of repatriating the body to its homeland.
