Ukrainians are rapidly losing trust in the current government, in particular due to corruption, which has an extremely negative impact on the ability to resist the Russian aggressor. The way out of this situation could be the creation of a Government of National Unity, but Bankova is strongly preventing such initiatives.
This was stated on the air of “Pryamoy” by Oleg Synyutka, a people’s deputy from “European Solidarity”.
“I am not at all happy that people are having a worse and worse attitude towards the authorities. What does a worse attitude towards the authorities mean? It means that people see corruption, that people see misuse of funds, that people see the enrichment of individual representatives of the authorities, and all this undermines trust in the country and the future of our state. And the issue that society demands, which, by the way, our Western partners are already talking about out loud in official documents, is simply urgent,” noted Synyutka.
He believes that the Government of National Unity will be able to strengthen Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor, but the authorities oppose such initiatives.
“I am not happy that the credit of trust in the authorities is falling. Because it means that it is more difficult for us to resist the Muscovites. But we definitely cannot ignore this. What should be the answer? I have already said – a government of national unity, professional, honest, patriotic people – this is a real way out of the situation, which will relieve this tension in relation to the authorities. And finally, it is time to bring all these officials-thieves to justice and not to unleash this struggle within law enforcement agencies, but to unite law enforcement agencies to fight corruption,” the People’s Deputy explains.
“Everything is clear about what needs to be done. Everything is clear about how to do it. It’s just that the authorities for some reason don’t want to do it. And because of this, people are starting to be critical of government officials,” summed up Oleg Synyutka, a representative of European Solidarity.
Meanwhile, Western partners are increasingly concerned about the centralization of power in the Ukrainian leadership, but refrain from public statements so as not to give a pretext for a Russian information attack. Politico reports that during a recent meeting with the Servant of the People faction, Zelensky expressed disappointment with the way Ukrainian politicians, journalists, and civil society representatives influence the country’s image on the international stage. At the same time, he effectively placed responsibility on these groups for the “insufficiently holistic image of Ukraine” in the eyes of the West.
