Ukrainians can receive up to 19,400 hryvnia in aid from UNICEF: details

Ukrainian families with children affected by the war can receive financial assistance from UNICEF. Four programs are in operation in 2026, and the amounts of payments range from 4,100 to 19,400 hryvnias.

One of the programs provides assistance to families who have suffered from Russian attacks or were forced to evacuate from frontline areas.

In this case, each family member who meets the program’s conditions can receive 12,300 hryvnias. This money is designed to cover basic needs for approximately three months.

However, the mere fact of evacuation or damage to the home due to an attack does not automatically mean that the family will receive money. UNICEF, together with partners, checks whether the family meets the established criteria.

Another payment can be received by families with children in which someone died or was injured as a result of shelling. Such families are provided with a one-time benefit of 16,700 hryvnias.

UNICEF is also providing assistance to families left without electricity, water, or heating due to Russian strikes on critical infrastructure. The amount of this payment is 4,100 hryvnias per person.

There is a separate winter preparation assistance. In the 2026-2027 season, a family can receive 19,400 hryvnias per household. The money can be spent on heating, fuel, utilities, warm clothing, and other winter needs.

Residents of communities located within 20 kilometers of the front line in Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhia regions can apply for winter payments.

In this case, the family must meet at least one of the vulnerability criteria. These include large and single-parent families, families with people with disabilities, some IDP families, as well as recipients of housing subsidies and benefits.

To apply for winter assistance, you need to contact the Pension Fund, the Central Social Assistance Center, or local authorities.

UNICEF may not conduct open online registration for other programs. Families are identified together with local authorities, social services and partners of the organization, depending on the specific program.
