Ukrainians have the right to compensation for the cost of food: who can apply and how to arrange payment

The state will provide financial assistance for food to people affected by the Chernobyl disaster in 2025. Payments are made through the Pension Fund of Ukraine after submitting relevant documents.

Participants in the liquidation of accidents at the Chernobyl NPP and other nuclear facilities of the 1st or 2nd category, victims of a disaster of the 1st or 2nd category, as well as persons exposed to radiation exposure, have the right to compensation for the cost of food products.
As noted in “Diya”, an application for payment can be submitted through the Pension Fund, the Center for Administrative Services, the local council, or online through the official website of the PFU.
Payment is made within ten days after submission of a complete package of documents.
The department reminds that payment may be denied in the event of a lack of necessary documents, a change in place of registration without notification, or loss of status that entitles you to receive assistance.
By the way, in Ukraine, a “winter support” program will be launched in December , under which citizens will be able to receive from one thousand to six and a half thousand hryvnias. The assistance is planned to be spent on food, medicine, warm clothing, and payment of utility bills.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the government is preparing a large-scale “winter support” program that will come into effect in December. It will include direct payments, social assistance, maintaining fixed fares, and free rail travel within the country.
