Ukrainians may be left without heating in winter: which regions are at risk?
Ukraine has accumulated enough resources for the new heating season, but the greatest danger remains from Russian shelling.
This was reported by the director of the Energy Research Center, Oleksandr Kharchenko, in a comment to Ukrinform.
“Ukraine has a unique system that is completely decentralized. We can trade from the wheel and provide all of Ukraine with gasoline, diesel, and everything we need,” he said.
According to him, Ukraine can import resources from almost anywhere, so in terms of the quantity of petroleum products, the entire country is protected.
As Kharchenko noted, another risk is energy supply. In particular, the threat lies in Russian attacks on thermal generation.
Currently, the most vulnerable are the Kyiv and Odessa regions, as well as the frontline regions – Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
Despite this, emergency crews have already worked out an action algorithm for a quick response and restoration of power supply.
“They (the Russians – ed.) will not be able to freeze Ukraine. We are well prepared for the heating season. In general, the accumulation of gas is going according to the schedule, which brings us into a safe zone – in October we will have sufficient reserves to calmly go through the winter,” the expert concluded.
Recall that Ukraine faces a serious threat of disruption of the heating season in certain regions due to massive Russian shelling of energy infrastructure.
