Ukrainians reminded of the rules for using heaters during cold weather: how to avoid fires
With the onset of cold weather, Ukrainians are actively using electric heaters, fireplaces, and fan heaters. This creates additional load on the power grid and increases the risk of fires.
This was reported by Vinnytsiaoblenergo .
Energy workers emphasized that following basic safety rules can save lives. “Concern about safety is not excessive caution, but daily responsibility for one’s own life and the lives of loved ones,” the company noted.
Experts urge not to leave turned-on electric heating devices unattended, not to use homemade or uncertified heaters, and to check the condition of wires, sockets, and plugs before use.
Heaters should be placed at a safe distance from curtains, furniture, and other flammable objects — at least 25 centimeters. It is also not recommended to dry clothes on them or place the devices on wooden or plastic surfaces.
Zakarpattiaoblenergo added that about 70% of fatal fires occur during the cold season. The main reason is violation of the rules for using electrical appliances.
Experts advise avoiding overloading the network, not turning on several powerful devices at the same time, and not trying to repair fuses yourself. In case of damage to the wire or overheating, you must immediately stop using the device.
By the way, the heating season began in Kyiv on October 3. First of all, heat will begin to be supplied to hospitals, kindergartens, schools, and other social institutions.
As a reminder, the heating season is starting in Ukraine due to the drop in temperature. In a number of regions, heat will begin to be supplied this week – in particular, in the Rivne region, heating was turned on in hospitals, schools, and kindergartens from September 24 .
