Ukrainians will be able to travel by rail within the country for free: what is known about the “winter support” program

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the government is preparing a large-scale “winter support” program that will come into effect in December. It will include direct payments, social assistance, maintaining fixed fares, and free rail travel within the country.

This was reported by the press service of the President’s Office.

Zelenskyy noted in his address that he had instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to prepare a full package of assistance programs. According to him, the first element will be direct financial support, which Ukrainians will be able to spend on urgent needs, just like last year.

The President announced that a separate program will also be introduced for the most vulnerable categories of citizens. These include single elderly people, large families, and residents of combat zones. The details of the package will be presented by the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

In addition, Zelenskyy assured that fixed prices for gas and electricity will remain in effect for household consumers in the winter.

A special program of transport support for Ukrainians is also being prepared. In particular, Ukrzaliznytsia has proposed the UZ-3000 project, which provides for free travel up to three thousand kilometers within Ukraine on any route.

“The company must give a tangible response to people – the funds used really serve society,” the head of state noted.

In addition, as part of the “winter support”, it is planned to expand medical programs. The Ministry of Health is preparing to launch a preventive examination project so that every adult Ukrainian can check their health.

The President instructed the government to complete the preparation of all elements of the program by November 15 so that Ukrainians could take advantage of the assistance at the beginning of winter.
