On the night of April 22, Ukrainians will be able to observe the peak of the Lyrid meteor shower.
This is reported by Space.com .
The best time to observe is the predawn hours. During this period, the radiant of the stream rises highest above the horizon and the meteors are best visible.
In particular, in Ukraine, the optimal window for observation is from 3:00 to 5:00 a.m. Astronomers predict up to 20 bright meteors per hour.
The Lyrids are associated with Comet Thatcher, which orbits the Sun approximately once every 415 years. It last passed closest to the Sun in 1861.
The shower is active every year from April 16 to 25. In some years, the intensity increases dramatically and can reach up to 100 meteors per hour, but such outbreaks are difficult to predict.
