Ukroboronprom gets a new leader
German Smetanin headed the state concern “Ukrainian Defense Industry” (former “Ukroboronprom”).
The company’s press service announced his appointment.
The decision was made by the concern’s supervisory board following an open competition in which 14 candidates took part. The search and selection was conducted by the international company Odgers Berndtson, which specializes in the selection of top management.
Prior to his appointment, Smetanin served as acting CEO after the previous director, Oleg Gulyak, was transferred to another position in the defense industry.
Smetanin already headed Ukroboronprom in 2023, and then became the Minister for Strategic Industries. After the liquidation of this department, its functions were transferred to the Ministry of Defense, and Smetanin returned to the defense concern.
