“Ukroboronprom has entered into a cooperation agreement with Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.”
This was reported by JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry”.
The parties will work on integrating existing and future Ukrainian short- and medium-range air defense systems into the NASAMS infrastructure.
This means that Ukrainian systems will operate in coordination with Norwegian command and control modules.
Ukroboronprom noted that earlier, representatives of the Norwegian company held negotiations with Ukrainian officials and assessed their production, scientific, and technical capabilities.
“The development and scaling of our air and missile defense systems is one of Ukroboronprom’s key priorities. Together with Norwegian arms manufacturers, we are taking a new step toward creating a strong air shield that will reliably protect strategic sites and civilian infrastructure,” said Oleh Hulyak, Director General of Ukroboronprom.
He also emphasized that this cooperation serves as a model of successful international partnership.
Earlier, the director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies, Valentyn Badrak, stated that Ukraine had lost the chance to join three strategic projects with one of Europe’s leading defense giants to strengthen its air defense and missile defense system, localize the production of critically important missiles, and even jointly develop a new missile for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and EU countries.
