Ukrzaliznytsia has installed 33 mobile shelters at railway facilities in Kyiv and the region. The company plans to equip another 128 such structures in the capital region and almost 650 in other regions of Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Shelters are being set up primarily in places where railway workers are most at risk of being hit by Russian shelling. In particular, they are being set up near important facilities on which train traffic depends, as well as at stations where there are no other protective structures.
The company notes that mobile structures have already helped protect workers during Russian drone attacks.
“Given the change in the tactics of Russian attacks — prolonged combined strikes using drones and missiles — the company plans to install 128 more shelters in the capital and the region and almost 650 in other regions of Ukraine,” Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
In total, the company has installed 434 mobile shelters at railway facilities since the start of the full-scale invasion.
As a reminder, in Kyiv, in late October – early November, they plan to begin installing mobile shelters near public transport stops . In the first stage, 14 such structures are planned to be equipped.
As reported, Ukraine is hoping for international support to install 840 mobile shelters in six frontline regions. The protective structures are to appear on the routes that schoolchildren take to get to educational institutions.
Additionally, Ukrainian businesses must provide employees and visitors with access to shelters or safe spaces by December 4, 2026. If a business fails to comply with this requirement, it will not be able to continue operating during a yellow air alert.
