Ukrzaliznytsia has adjusted schedules for 118 long-distance trains and 62 commuter trains. Some services will be slower, but the company notes that safety and predictability remain its top priority.

The company’s press service reported this.

Ukrzaliznytsia Chairman of the Board Oleksandr Pertsovsky explained that the decision to revise the schedules was made taking into account the security situation and the significant damage to signaling and communication systems resulting from enemy attacks.

According to him, the timeliness of train service, which became a characteristic feature of Ukrainian railways even during the war, has recently deteriorated significantly due to route changes and the concentration of traffic on certain problematic sections.

Ukrzaliznytsia clarified that they were paying particular attention to the Fastiv section, which suffered damage from the occupiers and where restoration work is ongoing.

As part of the schedule review, railway workers diverted trains from bottlenecks and adjusted arrival and departure times, keeping schedules as convenient as possible for passengers. The company expects this will allow it to return to a 91% on-time arrival rate.

Pertsovsky acknowledged that trains will take longer to operate on certain routes, but assured passengers that they will enjoy stability, predictability, and a clear schedule.

Ticket sales for trains operating under the updated schedule, which will take effect on January 22, opened on January 8. Domestic tickets went on sale at 8:00 AM, international tickets at 9:00 AM, and other routes were available through the end of the day.

As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, December 30, Russian troops launched an attack on the Chernihiv region, resulting in damage to another energy infrastructure facility of vital importance to the region.
